Lillie Butler

February 23, 1945 — January 9, 2011

Lillie Mae Butler, age 65, went home to be with Jesus at on Sunday, January 9th, 2010 at the Mercy West Hospital in Knoxville, TN surrounded by her loving family .

She was born February 23, 1945 to the late Raymond Wagner and Flora Wagner (Woolum) in DeWitt, KY. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in Victory over the grave by her sister Shirley Wagner.

She was a homemaker and lifelong resident of Bell County. She had worked as a pharmacy tech, telephone operator and restaurant cashier. Lillie was an active member of Miller's Chapel Missionary Baptist Church. She served as the Ladies Sunday School Teacher and was a member of the Miller's Chapel Ladies Circle.

She is survived by her loving husband of 34 years, Joseph Alan Butler of Middlesboro, KY. Sons Timothy (Rebecca) Johnson of Elizabethtown, KY; Travis Alan (Aleshia) Butler of Cumberland Gap, TN and Jeffrey Paul Butler of Middlesboro, KY. Stepfather Donald Franklin Woolum of Middlesboro, KY. Sisters Geraldine (Paul) Reedy of New Haven, IN; Wilma (Darrell) Cox of Tazewell, TN; Zella (Lawrence) McGeorge of Speedwell, TN; JoAnne Daniels of Corbin, KY; Anna Wagner of Middlesboro, KY and Rhonda Woolum of Ewing, VA. Brothers Raymond Wagner of Richmond, KY and Mark Woolum of Middlesboro, KY. Grandchildren Ashley Brooke, Taylor McClaine and Lillie Faith Johnson of Elizabethtown, KY and Emmit Alan Butler of Cumberland Gap, TN. She is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews, her church family and special friends Carrie Elliot, Brenda Hensley, Loretta Hoffer and Berneda Buell.

Funeral services will be at Miller's Chapel Baptist Church on Thursday, January 13th at 7:00 p.m. with Pastors' Travis Thompson and Robert Terry officiating. Music will be provided by the Miller's Chapel Singers, Clyde Earle, Rebecca Johnson,and Deborah and Laranda Terry. Grave side services will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 14th, 2010 with burial at Green Hills Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family ask that donations be made to the Miller's Chapel Baptist Church Ladies Circle or American Cancer Society in Lillie's name.

Pallbearers will be Lawrence McGeorge Jr,, Joseph Jenkins, Joby Jenkins, John Herd, Clay Herd, Michael Johnson, William Campbell, Jared Miller and Michael Barnett.

Honorary Pallbearers are John Hoffer, Ted Hoffer, Charles "Tyke" Gordon, Russell Barker, Miller's Chapel Deacons and Trustees and Dr's Vicente Y. Kaw, Jr, Raymond Brigg and George Webber; with a very special thank you and love to Dr. Brenda Nicholson, all at the Knoxville and Harrogate Tennessee Cancer Specialist nurses and staff and the heroes that fight everyday to beat cancer.
