Fred Gregory

February 21, 1938 — October 2, 2020

Fred L. Gregory, 82, of Fourmile, KY earned his heavenly reward on Friday, October 2nd , 2020

after a courageous battle with cancer. Fred was born on February 21st , 1938 in Flat Lick, KY to the late

Roger and Nellie Anne Trent Gregory. On March 2nd,1957 he united in marriage with Rosalee Hendrickson, and together, they built a life they loved. Fred and Rosalee were blessed with two daughters and three sons.

To support his family, Fred worked in the local coal mines. In his spare time, he enjoyed working

on cars, playing the guitar, cooking, and later in life, watching westerns. After being baptized on June 5th ,

2005, he picked up the hymnal of his church and sang for the Lord. His two most favorite songs were

“Bound for That City” and “Great Speckled Bird”. His kitchen was the welcoming place of his home. He

could combine ingredients and spices in a way that no one can ever replicate. His favorite times to cook

were the holidays when the generations of his family could gather within the walls of his home to love

and visit with one another. He faithfully attended church every time the doors were open. In display of

his devout faith throughout his illness, he would often say that he “was a winner either way”.

In addition to his parents, Fred is preceded in death by his brothers Herbert, Tom, Bob, and

Charles “Rog” Gregory; sisters: Vada Wilson, Nan Gambrel, Nellie “Bud” Smith, Irma Lott and Joyce

Wilson; grandson Curtis Gregory; daughter-in-law Sue Gregory, granddaughter-in-law Amy Gregory,

grandson-in-law Justin Clontz, and special friends Billy Ray and Jewell Carroll.

Left to carry on his legacy are his loving wife, of over 63 years, Rosalee Gregory; three sons:

Mike Gregory, Tim Gregory, Jason Gregory and wife Angel, all of Fourmile; two daughters: Janet Carroll

and husband Mike, and Irma Brooks and husband Darrell, both of Pineville; fourteen grandchildren:

Michael Paul Gregory, Janet Lynn (A.J.) Wilson, Christian (Jeff) Peterson, Timothy “T.J.” Gregory, Harley

Gregory, Robert “Rob” Miller, Larry (Rachael) Miller, Bruce (Beth) Miller, Will, Connor, and Emmalin

Gregory, Carrie (Joe) Daniels, Ashley (Mike) Bennett, and Amanda (Michael) Branstutter; eighteen great-

grandchildren: Brittany Clontz, Taylor Gregory, Shelby Wilson, Anna Wilson, Marcus Peterson, Gabriel

Peterson, Ethan Warren, Hannah Daniels, Annslee Bennett, Chanda Martin, Gracie Branstutter, Ellie and

We would like to thank everyone who prayed for our dad, sent a card, brought a meal, or said

an encouraging word. We are delighted to know that he is now in that city of light singing in the angel

choir. We want to express our sincerest gratitude to Dr. Michael Bidros and his staff of the St. Joseph

Health Cancer Center, Dr. William Richards of the Commonwealth Cancer Center, and Bluegrass Hospice
