James "Babe" Shipley

We are sad to announce the passing of our dad, James “Babe” Shipley Sr. He passed away on March 21, 2024, at home at the age of 81. James was born on September 16, 1942, in Baltimore, Maryland to the late James Shipley and Irene Posey. 

He was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce Weber Shipley. 

He is survived by 5 children, Elizabeth (Garrett) Taylor, Phyllis (Proctor) Jones, Rosemary Shipley, Buddy Shipley, and James Shipley Jr (Charlotte). An abundance of grandkids, great-grandkids, and great-great-grandkids.

Funeral services will be Monday, March 25, 2024, at Brooks-Durham Funeral Home at 2PM with preacher Terry Broughton; burial will follow in Shipley Cemetery, Fourmile, KY with Vern West, Garrett Taylor Jr., Steven Howard, Dalton Taylor, Cody Shipley, Jed Smith, Jessie West, Issac West, Kameron West, and Rickey West serving as pallbearers. 

The family will receive friends after 6PM on Sunday, March 24, 2024, until 9PM, at Brooks-Durham Funeral Home. The Brooks-Durham Funeral Home is honored to serve the Shipley family and ask that you keep them in your prayers.
