Virgil Knuckles, 81 of Arjay, went home to be with t he Lord Saturday October 1, 2011 at his home. Mr. Knuckles served in the Army 7-6-51 thru 4-7-53 with Honorable discharge, he was of the Holiness faith. He was a member of the Board Roof Holiness Church, in Dorton Branch Ky. He was a Coal Miner.
He was born March 5, 1930 in Flat Lick Ky he was the son of Thomas and Lynda Knuckles. In addition to his parents he was proceeded in death by his son Warren Curtis Knuckles, Brothers; Earl Ray Knuckles, Webster Knuckles, Curtis Knuckles, John riley Knuckles, twin brothers, Jack and George Knuckles. Sisters; Dorothy knuckles Epperson, Ellen Knuckles France, First wife Della Dean Maiden Knuckles and their son James L. George Knuckles.
He is survived by the following, wife of 52 years Ruth Christopher Knuckles. Daughters; Roselee Christopher and Gary Hoskins Arjay Ky, Mattie and Roy Sanders Arjay Ky, Tina and David Burnette of Lafollette TN, Sharon and Haston Philpot Jr. of New Tazewell Tn, Carla and Greg Ward of Middlesboro Ky, Tammy and Carl Runyon Jr. of Artemus Ky. Son Kenneth and Marlene Knuckles Arjay Ky. Special son Pete Christopher. Brothers; Evie Knuckles, Soule Knuckles. Sisters; Shirley Knuckles Baker all of Flat Lick Ky.
Grandchildren; Jody Christopher, Patsy and Jimmy Sutton, Tressie and John Parrott, Stevie Christopher, Gregory Ward, Thomas Ward, Casey and Heather Smith, Savannah Ward, Brandy and Brain Scott, Amanda and Daniel Maiden, Kayla and Jimmy Carnes, 16 Great Grand Children and one on the way. He also has a host of nieces and Nephews. Special Friends Linda Patterson, Jimmy Beth Patrick, Special Neighbors and Friends The Hubbard’s, Sanders, Clouse and Smith Families
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday October 4, 2011, at the Arjay Baptist Church. with Rev. Russell Murphy and Rev. Danny Robbins. Singers; Lovena Saylor, Rita Brittain, Russell Murphy, Virgil Knuckles, Tammy Runyon. Pallbearers; David Brumett, Chad Sanders, Lester Clouse, Ronnie Hubbard, Gary Hoskins, Jimmy Carnes and Eric Hubbard. Honorary Pallbearers; Carl Runyon jr., Roy Sanders, Jimmy Sutton, David Burnett and John Parrott. Burial will follow at the Knuckles Christopher Cemetery in Arjay, KY.
The family will receive friends after 5 Monday October 3, 2011 at the Arjay Baptist Church. The Brooks-Durham Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements and is honored to be serving the Knuckles family
