Walker, KY

Leslie L. Hurst, proud father of 4 children, 61 of Walker, KY, passed away at his home on July 12, 2025.

He was born in Toledo, OH on July 1, 1964, to General and Della Hurst. He graduated from Woodward Highschool in 1982 and moved to Middlesboro, KY in 1992 where he attended and graduated from the University of Kentucky. After graduating college, he went on to work for the college for 20 plus years before retiring. He worked hard to help support his family.

Leslie was a devoted Christian. He was a loving and supportive father to Sarah (Lucas) Radwanski, Rebekah (John) Blosser, Hanah (B.J) Evans and Elijah (Stefanie) Hurst, who miss him dearly and the life lessons he impacted to them. Among them was “Always choose to be kind” and “Learn to forgive”. He was such a loving and caring husband to his wife Candy, who he loved beyond words.

He took great pride in being a parent and grandparent. Especially spending quality time with them. He wanted to teach them everything he knew from building model cars to making literally anything from scraps of wood. He loved working out in his woodshop. Leslie was a lifelong Pittsburg Steelers fan and finally got to go to his first game in October 2018.

He was preceded in death by his father General Hurst Jr, his mother Della Powers Hurst, his brother Paul Hurst, nephew General Louis “Bug” Hurst, brother-in-law Wade Baird, Stepson Derek Baird.

He is survived by his wife Candy Hurst, sisters Charlotte (Tim) Briggs and Rosa Printke and son Daniel Printke, his children Sarah, Rebekah, Hanah and Elijah. He had 11 grandkids and 1 on the way. Elijah and Stefanie are expecting their first child in December. His In-laws Larry and Glenda “Gg” Baird thought the world of Leslie and loved him so much. His grandchildren are going to miss their papaw. He had an influence on so many people. He had a special friend and mentor, Pastor Astor Simpson, who he had confided in, worked with, prayed with and help in any way imaginable. Lelsie was a loving husband, father, papaw, uncle, friend and a firm believer in God.

Dad, you will be missed by so many, we love you.

The family held a private service for him on July 17, 2025.
