Nakota Layne Smith, age 3 months old went home to be with Jesus on Tuesday, November 28, 2023, at Cincinnati Childrens in Cincinnati, OH. Nakota was born on August 6, 2023, in Lexington, KY to Joshua Dakota Smith and Janet Lydia Brock.
Nakota is preceded in death by two siblings in heaven; his great-grandparents Beritha Rosetta Blevins Caldwell, Floyd Brock and Homer and Diane Hardesty Smith; cousins Curtis Lawson, Lucy Helton, and Brittany Goodin; great uncles Ricky Goodin and Willard Caldwell; great-aunt Janet Brock.
Nakota is survived by his mommy and daddy, Joshua Dakota Smith, and Janet Lydia Brock; grandparents Bernice and Fred Brock and Melissa and Craig Smith; great-grandparents June and Betty Goodin; aunts Kelsey (Daniel) Warwick, Mary Jane Brock, Emma Brock, and Maggie Smith; uncles Seth Brock and Ethan Smith and girlfriend Laurie Fuson; cousins Zila Warwick, Aubrey Warwick, Kaelyn Warwick, Malaki Warwick and Troy Warwick.
Funeral services will be 1PM Sunday December 3, 2023, at Brooks-Durham Funeral Home with Rev. Don Messer, Rev. Scott Smith, Rev. James Teaney and Tony Lawson; music will be provided by Daniel Warwick and Tommy Fraiser; burial will follow in the Caldwell family cemetery at Stoney Fork.
The family will receive friends after 6PM on Saturday December 2, 2023, at Brooks-Durham Funeral Home until 9PM. The Brooks-Durham Funeral Home is honored to serve the Smith family and ask that you keep them in your prayers.
