O.J Patterson

It is with deep sadness, that we announce the passing of our father, Oscar Patterson Jr., better known as “O.J” he was 72; he went peacefully to rest on April 8, 2025, at 8:44 AM with his family by his side. O.J was the best dad ever to us. He was our biggest cheerleader, encouraging us to be the best we could be. He was always there for his grandchildren too; on the sideline, telling them how to do it. He loved working on old cars, especially his old Chevelle. Dad loved 4-wheeling and poke picking, best of all he loved being with family and friends. You just never knew when he called where he would be, he loved to travel.

He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Oscar and Lillie Patterson, brothers, Luster Ronald “Gomer”, Russell “Chest” Arnold Lee and Mitch Carnes Patterson; sisters Tressie Mosley and Esiline Phillips.

O.J leaves to cherish his memories, daughter Christy Short of Barbourville, KY, son Rodney Patterson and wife Kristy of Pineville, KY, grandchildren, Taneisha and Dalton Brummett, Autumn and Dalton Hyatt, Trevor Short and Brody Patterson, two great-grandchildren, Elijah Hyatt and Jax Brummett; sisters Evelyn Wagers and Marie Jones; sister-in-law Rannie Patterson; brothers Custer Patterson, Glenn Patterson, Clyde Patterson and Claude Patterson.

The family would like to thank the Barbourville Nursing Home and Barbourville A.R.H for the special care they gave our father.

Funeral services will be Thursday, April 10, 2025, at 1PM at Brooks-Durham Funeral Home with Rev. Clyde Patterson and Terry Nelson; burial will follow in Smith-Patterson Cemetery, Pineville, KY. Pallbearers will be Trevor Short, Rodney Patterson ,Brody Patterson, Charles Patterson, Dalton Hyatt and Dalton Brummett.

The family will receive friends after 6PM on Wednesday, April 9, 2025, until 9PM at Brooks-Durham Funeral Home. The Brooks-Durham Funeral Home is honored to serve the Patterson family and ask that you keep them in your prayers.
