Patricia Ann Taylor

Patricia Ann Hubbard Taylor, of Hulen, KY, passed away peacefully on August 31st, just shy of her 84th birthday, after a courageous battle with lung cancer. She faced her illness with a strength and grace that inspired everyone who knew her, and in her final moments she was surrounded by the family who loved her so dearly.

Patricia was a devoted woman of faith and a lifelong member of Blackmont Baptist Church, where she served faithfully for many years. She taught Sunday School and Children’s Church, and during special events and Vacation Bible School you could always find her in the church kitchen, helping wherever she was needed. Church wasn’t just something she attended — it was a central part of who she was. Even when illness kept her from going, her greatest desire was still to be there.

Her love story with her husband, Ted, began quickly and never slowed down. They met, fell in love, and within two weeks knew they wanted to spend the rest of their lives together. That quick certainty turned into almost 65 years of marriage this November. She loved him deeply and devoted her life to him, just as he did to her. She was incredibly proud of her two children, who were her pride and joy. She adored her four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, truly believing they “hung the moon.” Patricia had a rare gift for making people laugh without even trying. Joy seemed to follow her naturally. She always loved having her hair and nails done and never lost her love of travel. She was devoted to her shows — Days of Our Lives and Outlander — and never missed a chance to watch her favorite movie, Titanic. Pink was her favorite color, even though she wore a lot of black — something her family loved to tease her about. She was an incredible cook, known especially for her out-of-this-world pecan pies and a potato salad worthy of an award. Cooking for her family brought her great joy. More than almost anything, Patricia loved living alongside her children and grandchildren through the different seasons of their lives. Over the years she made her home with several of them, and she treasured being woven into their everyday moments — the routines, the mealtimes, the little day-to-day things most people take for granted. Being close enough to watch her grandchildren grow up, help out when needed, and simply be present in their daily lives was, in her own words, something she would never have wanted to change.

Patricia wouldn’t want her family to mourn for her. She is now in the presence of her Lord and Savior, reunited at last with her father whom she lost at a young age, her mother, her four sisters, a brother, and several brothers-in-law and nephews who went on before her.

She is survived by her loving husband, Ted Taylor of 65 years; her two children, Dwayne Taylor and his wife Stephanie, and daughter Shannon Taylor; her four grandchildren, Whitney Barton, Dalton Taylor and his wife Katie, Bayley Rice, and Sydney Rice; her four great-grandchildren,Isaac Barton and his wife Haley, Kylie Barton, Dallas Taylor, and Shiloh Taylor; and many family members, sisters, nephews, nieces, and friends who will miss her dearly.

Services will be held September 3rd at 4:00 PM at Brooks-Durham Funeral Home in Pineville, KY. Family visitation will begin at 2:00 PM and friends at 2:30 PM, with funeral services beginning at 4:00 PM with Rev. David Howard and Rev. Jeff Tingle. Burial will follow in Pineville Cemetery in Pineville, KY. Pallbearers will be her grandchildren, Whitney Barton, Dalton Taylor, Bayley Rice, Sydney Rice, Isaac Barton, Kylie Barton, Haley Barton, and Katie Taylor. Honorary pallbearers will be Dallas Taylor, Shiloh Taylor, Jason Howard, Danny Green, and Wesley Nix. 

The family would like to thank Bluegrass Care Navigators for their exceptional care, love, prayers, and support during this difficult time. Her faith, humor, strength, and love for her family will remain a lasting legacy. She was, and always will be, a strong example of what a woman should be.
